This is a picture of Calix and Christopher Hammett with me on Valentine's Day, 2018. At the time Calix was a current student and Christopher was a former student. They spent their day off from school delivering Valentine's Day treats to me from the Scott Eli Jackson Foundation, knowing that this would be my first Valentine's Day without my husband of 35 years, 4 months and 19 days. He always made me feel special on February 14, and I was missing him terribly, and then these sweet boys showed up. It touched me beyond words!

The Scott Eli Jackson Foundation made 3 trips to our home between October 2017 and February 2018. (It wasn't a short trip, either!) On the first trip Donyel came with her friend from Atlanta. This was our first introduction to the foundation, and oh my, what an introduction! They brought their Tote of Hope with "Let's Kick Pancreatic Cancer Stache" shirts, inspirational books, treats for my husband to use during chemo, and other thoughtful tokens to make our lives easier. They were so sweet, spending time with us, sharing stories, and just making us feel hopeful!

The next trip was Christmas Eve when volunteers delivered a feast--roasted turkey with all the trimmings! How amazing is that! Although my husband was very sick, my son, daughter, son-in-law, and I appreciated the gesture immensely. Even though my husband passed away the day after Christmas, we all still talk about the kindness of the Scott Eli Jackson Foundation during that incredibly difficult time.

Everyone agrees that cancer stinks, but this foundation and it's incredibly generous and thoughtful volunteers truly live the gospel teaching of Matthew 25:40: "The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'”

Thank you, Donyel, Calix, Christopher, and Lakeisha Hammett, and the Scott Eli Jackson Foundation. Pancreatic cancer stinks, but together we can kick its stache!
